Day 11 TV Movie tour, and More Shopping

Make sure you scroll down to Dads blog, he is worried you won't see it!

Today was a fun day, we went on a tour around Manhattan, where a lot of the movie and Tv shows have been done. The fun thing about it was seeing all these places that were in movies and etc that we had seen. New York is one of the most filmed cities in the world. It was also fun to see parts of New York we hadn't seen yet. Here are some pics.

Me in my cool new red sunglasses and new yellow shirt.

This is a trailer for a movie star

This is also a dressing room for the extras or makeup room or something.
These are trucks that hold equipment for the movie, he didn't know what movie it was. Though if we could have gotten out of the bus at that particular moment, he said on the permits that are posted everywhere, it has the name of the movie being shot and when it is going to take place. So if you wanted to you could try to see someone famous. It is just that the time on there will include set up and etc.

These parking spots cost 250.00 per day to have access to the spots 24 hours a day!!! How would you like one of these parking spots?

We loved this sign. It is real!!

Guess what this is? It is the Cosby steps. They used this for some of their outside shots, but someone else actually lives there, he got 1500.00 for every time his house was shown in the original showings, not the reruns. Not too bad for just using your front door and steps. The street has been used in lots of movies.

These houses were from the 1850's. Typical of the kind during Washington's time even though these were built much later. They are in the "Village".

For the "Friends" fans, who don't have to reveal themselves, this is the apartment where they all lived. Ross's later apt bldg is across the street, but much further away than they show on the show. The resturant is supposed to be "Perk" but they changed it a bit. They actually filmed everything in LA though. They just used the outside for the show.

This is the restaurant from Hitch that the girl he falls in love with eats dinner with her friend. They were eating in the same spot dad and I are standing eating our rice pudding. They sell 500 different kinds of rice pudding, who would've known.

After we got done with our tour, I escorted Steve down to the subway to make sure he got on the right train and then went back up to go to some of the 5th Ave stores.

Talk about fun!!! I went a few blocks, saw the Plaza, wish I had thought about going inside, zoned on that one. Saw a few ritzy stores from the outside, then went into the Prada store. Aside from the fact that everything is ridicoulously priced, it was one of the coolest stores I went into. It only had 3 rather small floors. The first floor was the bag floor, they all had the Prada medal tag on the front. They were pretty ordinary. The second floor had shoes.....ahhhhh..... they were very beautiful!! I loved them, a cool 425 and up. The third floor, my favorite floor, the little black dress , the coat, the slack, and a few odds and ends floor. I was reminded why I wanted to be a fashion designer. I had a big smile on my face the whole time. Those clothes were gorgeous, unique, and classy. I could have worn almost everything on that floor for the rest of my life with the exception of a couple of items. The fabric was gorgeous wool, and they were sewn beautifully. I would have tried some on, but it was a little intimidating in there. They were very nice though.

I then moved on to Tiffany's. Oh my gosh, what beautiful jewelry. There was a necklace that was pearls and 18 Karats worth of diamonds. It was sooooo beautiful. It was 4750.00 or right around there. For a fleeting moment I thought I will probably spend that much on my next sewing machine or more. I have to tell you I was tempted for a microsecond. I could see it on me. I then went up to the poor peoples floor. It was the sterling silver floor. I splurged on a pair of earrings for me. It cost me a few weight watcher meetings. I told Steve about them and he was really happy for me. He told me he already knew I liked worldly things. We both laughed. They are really pretty.

I was on my way to the subway and before my eyes was the toy store that was on "Big" the movie. The FAO Swartz toy store. It was the coolest toy store I have ever seen. It is definitely a childs fantasy land. Very fun and cool. And yes the piano is still there, I would have gotten on it, but there were a ton of kids on it.

I then had a chocolate dipped ice cream cone by the stinky horse carriages and statue at the south end of Central Park. Then came back home. It was a fun, fun day!

I made us tacos. Now we are watching Dave on TV.

We are truly blessed. We are starting to miss home, but the next few days should be great also.

SO COOL! Oh my goodness I soooo want to go to the prada store and tiffany's! I am surprised you didn't buy something Prada- well kind of, I don't know. They are ridiculously priced. I'm so happy for you that dad let you go by yourself! Love you!

Isn't that toy store awesome!!! I loved the doll section, where the little girls adopted a baby, got a birth certificate, etc. I can't imagine being a kid in that store.
