Sunday Day 2

If you haven't read day one, be sure and scroll down.

We walked the 2 miles to church. Steve accused me of trying to speed walk for an exercise workout on Sunday. I told him I wasn't, I could tell we were going to be late at the pace we were going. But if I am honest being this is Sunday, I was looking at it as some exercise, but I wasn't speed walking. I also wanted to walk because I have a need to know where I am. I can see Steve is very comfortable just going with the flow. I have to know where I am, so walking helped me to get my bearings a little. I can see, we will not be walking any more than is necessary. :-) We made our first purchase on a Sunday in a long time, we bought a metro card so we could ride the bus home from church. Steve figures that the 2 mile walk to church will go a long way with the Lord. Hee Hee. Anyway, it was fast Sunday as you know, and it felt so good just to be there. I have noticed when I have been particularly stressed, on the go, and visiting somewhere new (so I feel disoriented) going to church becomes an emotional experience. I feel so comforted and at peace in church that it makes me so grateful that I tear up a lot.

I wish I had taken my camera and taken a pic of the church/temple as we approached it. There amidst all the hub bub of the city is Angel Moroni standing tall and beautiful. It was very moving.

I have studied the maps and feel I am ready to use the subway for the first time to get us where we need to be. Thank you Lizzie for your Maps!!!!

I have also gained a huge appreciation for my kitchen!!!!! I have so many nice things and so much room!!! I told Steve we will be eating out more than I thought or buying easier microwave or oven type things. Plus there is no dishwasher. I don't want to repeat last year and break anything. I might buy paper and tell Steve that he has to deal!!!!

Lizzie and Danielle, I fixed the pic of our cab driver, check it out, you can see him a lot better.

Well, it is another gorgeous day and we are kicking back and trying to get rest. I have to say I have been studying more than resting. Lizzie requested a pic of Steve in his cargo shorts and sandals, here he is the new and hip Steve!!!! He loves his shorts and sandals!

How fun! That's awesome you walked 2 miles to church! I think the Lord will forgive you for buying a ticket to get home. It's so weird seeing Dad in shorts and sandals. Do you think he'll ever go for a different style shirt? I've only ever seen him wear that style of shirt. Anyway-sounds like your already having fun! Love you!

Were you wearing your church shoes on the 2 mile walk?? Your apt looks nice. That's the first time I've ever seen Dad in shorts (besides swim shorts a handful of times). And I've NEVER seen him in sandals. Doesn't it feel good Dad? You'll never turn back now.

ok first of all- your trip is worth every penny if it means getting Dad to wear shorts and sandals for the first time in how many years???? I HAVE never in my life seen Dad in Sandals! They look so good! Dad you look so cool and hip! Every year you just get more and more "modern," just like Tom Cruise in "Far and Away." I love the shorts! This is so awesome! Soon, dad's legs are going to be tan- crazy!!!! Dad you look so awesome, I'm so glad you're wearing shorts and sandals. Do you like them though? Are they comfortable, or do they feel wierd to you? Alright so on to your trip- everythign looks so cool. You guys are so blessed to be able to do these trips and just trade houses. The view is awesome- it looks like there are huge blocks set up everywhere like toys- but they're REAL buildings. I can't believe you guys walked 2 miles to church! I would have purchased a metro thing too, and I loved Dad's comment: that the walking to church would go a long way with the Lord. I laughed and laughed. The place you are staying at looks really cute and perfect for you guys. It must be so nice to have a homey place to stay rather than a hotel, it must be so much more relaxing for you. You guys are so lucky you have been to all the places you have visited. By the time I'm 35, you will have seen the WHOLE WORLD! Mike's dream is to see the "7 wonders" of the world; is that what their called? I'm sure you know what I mean. Well, I love you so much, and it's so cool that we can blog and keep in touch with eachother. Have you been looking at my videos??? I think there are 3 on my blog. Well, gotta go to class. Love you!
